Leading from the front
Bonny Dave started his mechanical engineering with big dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer. Then, something special happened. While volunteering at an NGO, he realised the challenges visually-impaired kids faced while accessing content, and hence built a 'Refreshable Braille Display' to help them access content easily, during his college days.
The joy he saw on the faces of those kids made him realise the potential of using technology as an enabler to empower lives and motivated him to give up on his aerospace dreams to start Trestle Labs | Kibo.
During her computer science engineering, when Akshita built a reading and mobility glove for the blind during her college - a device that could help visually-impaired people navigate and read things, she was super excited! During one of user-testing sessions, a young boy excitedly called his father after using the device and turned around to ask Akshita eagerly "When can I get this?". This time, she had no answer.
This moment was more than just feedback for her; it was a call to action. It propelled her to forego conventional IT job offers and instead, co-found Trestle Labs, driven by a mission to create technologies that truly empower lives.
